I'm happy enough with it being a fun project to build and a nice decoration, I didn't expect it to run for long or keep accurate time, obviously. The pendulum adjustment is therefore not very useful, but it's still good to have in order to understand the mechanics of it. It might be possible to make further adjustments to make it run longer, but I'm very skeptical that it can be made to run for more than 30 minutes or an hour. By making some careful adjustments I was able to make it run continuously for a minute or two. Once the clock has been build, making it run is a bit tricky since it's made of soft wood, any slight disturbance will cause the mechanism to slow down and get jammed. I would definitely not recommend for anyone under 14, at least not without assistance. There are spare parts just in case, I only broke one very small piece but I learned to push them straight in rather than wiggle them in.
The parts are fairly easy to remove from the wooden sheets and fit together by hand. It's a lot of fun to put together!Īssembly took me about 4 hours no special tools needed.
